So finally, the long awaited interview with Colorado’s own Ian Burnett. Ian is 25 and is Durango born and bred. The coolest thing about Ian is that his “Burnett” and my “Nankervis” family names both originate in the same region of England, Cornwall. Aside from that, he makes for an awesome roommate, great training partner, teammate, and friend. In January we had a two week training camp in California together and in the second week logged 38 hours. We didn’t stop talking (well, I didn’t stop talking, he didn’t stop listening) the entire time. I joke that I talked for 36 hours, and he managed to sneak in about two hours. Ian’s specialty is in the race against the clock, and he has spent countless hours in the last season and a half riding on the front of the peloton.
So, to get to know Ian Burnett a bit better:
How many bicycles do you own?
Ahhh… Road bike, TT bike, track bike, fixie, Ross, Univega, MTB, Fuji, cross bike, De Rosa. I think that’s all I have right now, except for a few rogue frames and parts lying around. 10 plus… and my girlfriend has 6 more, so that makes for an interesting looking garage!
How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
I would be 22.
On a scale of 1 to 10 with ten being the weirdest, how weird would you say you are?
I’d say I’m a 7.

I think Cole is doing enough to take care of the whole team. He’s just too Wild.

Cole. Still, 1 year on…

Red
What is the worst job you’ve ever had?
Dish washing
What’s your favourite food? How often do you eat it?
Tacos. A lot.
Favourite drink?
Strongbow.
What would you have for your last meal?
Probably tacos. Mexican food.
What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
Probably I wanna say dishes, but I do dishes all the time. I don’t like vacuuming really…
What is your favourite form of exercise?
Darts
If you started your own bicycle brand, what would you name it?
BB (Burnett Bikes)
If you can make any bicycle industry product, what would it be, and what name?
I would do frames because of the artistic designs and options.
Are you a morning or night person?
Night. (Ian has been known to sleep till well after mid-day. In fact, he is a world champion sleeper, sometimes sleeping for up to 14+ hours straight).
If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?
A cocktail party after winning a big race.
Who in the team has the worst taste in music?
I’d probably say Mike Olheiser. He loves some terrible old rock.
What is your favourite body part?
Probably butts.
What sound do you love?
Bell lap. 1 to go, 1 to go, 1 to go!
If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?
Yeah.
Who is your favourite Hollander on the team?
Most of the time, Thomas.
Who is the best looking Hollander on the Competitive Cyclist Racing Team?
Definitely not Thomas!
