London-(Berberanews)-As the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony took place in London, England, Fireworks light up Tower Bridge In front of 80,000 spectators and VIPs including dignitaries such as Michelle Obama, Angelina Jolie and members of British royalty.
Millions packed the streets of London with friends and relatives for the grand opening of the greatest sporting show on earth, while others gathered at big screens at London's Hyde Park and other outdoor locations.
Bells rang out across Britain on Friday to signal the final countdown to the Olympic Games, which open with an exuberant and eccentric ceremony celebrating the nation in an explosion of dance, music and fireworks.
London which plays host to the 30thOlympiad will see 26 sports contested by 10,500 athletes over 17 days of competition.
